Family Weekend runs October 4-6

Family Weekend, a long-standing tradition at Grand Valley, will run October 4-6. Dozens of events and activities will take place on the Allendale Campus throughout the weekend.

The weekend kicks off Friday, October 4, with a performance by the Laker Dance Team and a fashion show by the University Bookstore. On Saturday, a 5k will take place in the morning, followed by Pancakes with Presidents, with President Haas cooking, and the football game at 7 p.m. against Michigan Technological University. Other events and activities include a Renaissance Faire, Grand Valley’s Shakespeare Festival, farmers market, scavenger hunt and dueling pianos.

A contest on Instagram will run all weekend. Participants can use the hashtag #GVSUFW13 to share creative photos at events, with family or with Louie the Laker for a chance to win a prize.

Most events are free, some require a paid ticket for admission.
