DeVos says West Michigan a great place to live
Dick DeVos said he has a long list of reasons why West Michigan is
a great place to live and work. DeVos, president of Windquest Group,
was the featured speaker for the Peter F. Secchia Breakfast Lecture
November 12 at the L. William Seidman Center.
DeVos said growing up in Grand Rapids has made him appreciate
what the community has to offer and he is proud to be a part of it. “I
come in contact with people all across the state who are discovering
what West Michigan has to offer,” he said. “I meet people who say how
much they appreciate Grand Valley, and the education, values and
culture our area provides.”
DeVos listed his top reasons that make West Michigan a special
place; the list included entrepreneurship, philanthropy, clean and
safe environment, family friendly, strong work ethic, a conservative
approach and a faith perspective.
“Some may disagree with some of the things on my list, but these
values mean we strive to live to a higher standard, we believe there
is purpose in life and that each person has value,” DeVos said.
DeVos also said geography makes West Michigan unique. “We are
blessed to be near beautiful bodies of water. And, Northern Michigan
has everything the east coast has, without the attitude and crowds,”
he said.
