Biannual reception will celebrate student leaders
Registration is open for the Venderbush Leadership Lecture, a
biannual event that recognizes student leadership on campus.
The fall reception will take place on Monday, November 4, at 2
p.m. in the Pere Marquette Room of the Kirkhof Center. Register by
November 1 at www.gvsu.edu/leadership.
Each semester the Office of Student Life hosts a reception and
lecture in honor of Kenneth R. Venderbush, who came to Grand Valley in
1969 and served as associate professor, dean of William James College
and vice president of Student Affairs during his time at the
university.
Grand Valley alumnus Selma Tucker, director of marketing and
communications at Public Sector Consultants in Lansing, will provide
the keynote presentation. An advocate for energy efficiency and
environmentalism, Tucker previously worked for the City of Grand
Rapids where he led the BetterBuildings for Michigan program. He was
the first president of Grand Valley’s Hauenstein Center for
Presidential Studies Cook Leadership Academy and is currently a mentor
for the program.
New members of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honorary
will be recognized and the Student Organization Center will present
the Immediate Impact Award.
The winter reception will take place on March 17 in the Kirkhof
Center.
