Spring Gala Concert
The Music Department is celebrating spring with a free community
concert in Grandville. A varied program will include segments by the
University Arts Chorale, under the direction of Ellen Pool, the
Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Henry Duitman and solo performances
by students and faculty members.

Featured soloists include the two 2012 Student Concerto Contest
winners: Ashley Harris, flute, will perform “Ballade” by Frank Martin;
and Elizabeth Cullen, saxophone, will play the Tomasi Saxophone Concerto.
The final portion of the concert, “Operatic Favorites,” will
feature Grand Valley voice professors, Kathryn Stieler, Dale
Schriemer, and Min Jin performing works by Bizet, Rossini, and Puccini
with the orchestra. The grand finale will bring together all of the
Grand Valley choirs with the faculty soloists and orchestra for two
works by Verdi.
