Registration open for student leadership reception
Registration is still open for the Venderbush Leadership Reception,
an biannual event that recognizes student leadership on campus.
The fall reception will take place on Wednesday, October 10, at
3:30 p.m. in the Pere Marquette Room of the Kirkhof Center. Register
at www.gvsu.edu/leadership.
Students, faculty and staff members are invited.
The keynote speaker is John Mauro, a Grand Valley College of
Education alumnus, who has been a math teacher in Grand Haven for 12
years. He is a recipient of the Grand Valley Thomas M. Seykora Award
and is a Paul Harris Fellow from Rotary International. He has led more
than 30 service trips for high school and college students to 13
states and five countries. He recently spent six months in Peru, where
he taught math to sixth grade female students.
New members of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honorary
will be recognized and the Student Organization Center will present
the Immediate Impact Award.
The reception is named after Kenneth R. Venderbush, who came to
Grand Valley in 1969 and served as associate professor, dean of
William James College and vice president of Student Affairs during his
time at the university. He was a strong advocate of student leadership
participation as a learning tool.
