Huntington speaker focuses on Silicon Valley

The co-founder of Global CONNECT at the University of California, San Diego is the featured speaker at the Huntington Breakfast Lecture Series hosted by the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University.

Gregory Horowitt, co-founder and director at Global Enterprise of Global CONNECT and author of “The Rainforest: The Secret to Building the Next Silicon Valley,” will be the guest speaker October 18. His book proposes a new theory to explain the nature of innovation ecosystems: human networks that generate creativity and output. It argues that free market thinking fails to consider the impact of human nature on the innovation process.

Horowitt will speak about “Making Entrepreneurs: Lessons Learned from Silicon Valley.”

Horowitt is also the founding managing director of T2 Venture Capital, a seed-stage venture firm focused on the commercialization of intellectual property out of research institutions and government-funded programs. His background has been in executive management, where he held key positions at a Berkshire Hathaway company for nearly 20 years, served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at a leading Silicon Valley venture capital firm, and was the CEO of a venture-backed enterprise software company.
