Grand Valley State University has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for the fourth year in a row. The selection to the Honor Roll is recognition from the highest levels of the federal government for commitment to service and civic engagement.

The 2012 Honor Roll recognizes higher education institutions that reflect the values of exemplary community service and achieve meaningful outcomes in their communities. The recipients were announced at the American Council on Education’s 94th Annual Meeting on March 12 in Los Angeles.

More than 700 colleges and universities were named to the Honor Roll. Institutions were picked for their scope and innovation of service projects, percentage of student participation incentives for service, and the extent to which the school offers academic service-learning courses.

The Corporation for National and Community Service oversees the Honor Roll award along with the Department of Education, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Campus Compact and the American Council on Education.
