Students and staff members turned into grill masters August 1 for a cookoff that benefited the Student Food Pantry.

Health and Wellness hosted its first Summer Grill Challenge during the Farmers Market. Three teams of chefs prepared recipes for an audience who then voted on their favorite.

Libby Bonnell, from Admissions, submitted the winning recipe of Greek Chicken with Lemon Rice. Bonnell was unable to attend the event so her dish was prepared by Lindsey DesArmo, health and wellness coordinator.

College of Education staff members Mike Posthumus and Clay Pelon made Steak Sandwich Goodness, which Posthumus said was prepared with fresh vegetables from market vendors.

The sandwich was thinly sliced steak on buttered, toasted bread and topped with tomato, lettuce, arugula and goat cheese. The kicker, Posthumus said, was the jalapeño sauce.

Students Frank Pennisi and Mike Sutton prepared a grilled chicken dish.
