Carillon Concert Series continues; Traveling carillon comes to Allendale
The music of the bells continues at two locations during August,
with four concerts by internationally renowned carillonneurs. The free
open air concerts are provided by the Grand Valley State University
Department of Music.
The 12th Annual Beckering Family Carillon Concert Series
concludes Wednesday, August 1, with a noon performance by Grand
Valley’s Julianne Vanden Wyngaard at the Lacks International Plaza,
Richard M. DeVos Center, Robert C. Pew Grand Rapids Campus, 401 South
Fulton Street, Grand Rapids. Free parking is available in Watson Lot,
south of Fulton Street behind Secchia Hall.
Additional Cook Carillon concerts on the Allendale Campus are
scheduled at 8 p.m. each Sunday, through August 19. Upcoming concerts
include Ray McLellan August 5; a duet recital featuring George
Gregory, from Texas, and Wyngaard performing on the ChimeMaster
Traveling Carillon in Parking Lot F on August 12; the series concludes
with a solo performance by Wyngaard August 19.
