Area Studies to host global film series

The Area Studies office, housed in the Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies, kicks off its Global Eyes Film Series on Wednesday, October 10.

The Middle Eastern film “Koran By Heart,” directed by Greg Barker, takes place in Cairo, Egypt, and follows three Muslim children taking part in the global contest of the reading of the Qur’an.

The film will be shown in Mackinac Hall, room 126, from 7-9 p.m. Refreshments will be offered by Area Studies.

Other films featured throughout the semester as part of the Global Eyes Film Series include:

• October 22: “Life and Debt” (African African American Studies)
• November 5: “Ballerina” (Russian Studies)
• November 19: “Last Train Home” (East Asian Studies)
• December 3: “Nostalgia de la luz” (Latin American Studies)
