Pay it forward campaign begins

You may have noticed the hot chocolate cups with a "pay it forward" message that were given to participants following the Martin Luther King silent march.

That effort by staff members in the Children's Enrichment Center, Office of Student Life and Human Resources was the soft start to the kick off of Grand Valley’s Pay It Forward campaign. The campaign officially begins February 14, with 50 faculty and staff members who are acting as card holders and will perform one good deed for another campus community member.

Sharalle Arnold, director of the Children's Enrichment Center, said she hopes the goodwill will spread and be tracked on the website www.gvsu.edu/payitforward.

"Our goal is to encourage at least 50 good deeds to celebrate the university's 50th anniversary," Arnold said.

The campaign will run through spring break.
