GVSU extends unique MBA program to students in India

The Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University signed an agreement with National Management School in Chennai, India, for students in India to enroll in Grand Valley’s full-time, integrated MBA program (FIMBA).

H. James Williams, dean of the Seidman College of Business, traveled to India for the signing, which was held at the Indo American Chamber of Commerce in Chennai. Others at the signing included Suresh Kumar, assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Commerce; Jennifer Mclntyre, consul general of the American Consulate General in Chennai; and Sridhar Sundaram, academic director of FIMBA in Grand Valley’s Seidman College of Business.
 
The FIMBA program admits students with a business background. As part of the agreement, students in India who may not have a business degree can be admitted to the FIMBA program one year ahead. During this year, students will study the required business core courses at the National Management School in India to qualify as a business student before joining the FIMBA cohort at Grand Valley State.

“The master’s program is targeted at emerging leaders,” said H. James Williams, who returned from India this week. “We are glad to collaborate with National Management School in India to bring Indian students to our 2012 cohort to make it truly international.”    
         
Sankaran P. Raghunathan, dean of National Management School, said: “This model now makes an American MBA accessible to a much wider spectrum of students, and is undoubtedly a winning proposition for anyone looking for international education at an affordable fee. Each student is guaranteed a paid fellowship which runs parallel with classes. Students also attend the Washington Campus Program in Washington, D.C., to gain knowledge of the inner workings of the American political system and deepen their understanding of the relationship between business and government.
