Grand Valley student wins big on Price is Right

Gina Maniaci planned to have fun while visiting her sister in Los Angeles, but was surprised to land on stage for The Price is Right game show. The taped show aired Thursday, April 7, at 11 a.m. on CBS.

Maniaci was selected from the audience during a spring break trip from her studies at Grand Valley State University, where she is a freshman, studying dance. The Howell native went with her best friend and fellow student Beth Donovan, along with Maniaci’s sister, Sarah Beck.

Maniaci successfully bid on a shuffle board game to get on stage. She then played "Any Number" and won more than $800 in handbags. She advanced to the Showcase Showdown and won a total of more than $41,000 in prizes including a trip to Sweden, a year of Swedish massages and a Saab.

“I was not expecting to be chosen to be on the show at all, which made the whole experience that much more exciting,” said Maniaci. “I was so excited and nervous the whole time I was on the show that I have a hard time even remembering all the details of what happened.
