Professor Emeritus Dick Lefebvre died January 1 in Arizona after
battling cancer. Lefebvre helped start the geology program at Grand
Valley when he started working at the university in 1964. He retired
in 1998.
“Dick was central in forming a strong geology program at Grand
Valley,” said Steve Mattox, associate professor and chair of the
geology department. “His warmth and mentoring were greatly appreciated
and will be missed.”
No formal ceremony is planned.
