Nearly 25 people from seven universities met for a conference,
"LGBT Faculty Staff Leadership in Michigan Universities," on
May 21 in the Kirkhof Center to discuss best practices.
Neal Rogness, professor of statistics and outgoing president of
Grand Valley's LGBT Faculty/Staff Association, said the conference was
made possible through funding from an Arcus Foundation grant. The
Arcus Foundation of Kalamazoo awarded Grand Valley's LGBT Resource
Center a $150,000 in December; part of that funding was to create
statewide resources and networks.
Participants were from Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan,
Ferris State, Grand Valley, Michigan State, Oakland and the University
of Michigan.
