Because of the unusual number of pedestrian-vehicle accidents this
fall, university administrators remind students, faculty and staff
members of safety rules.
Vehicles are required to yield to pedestrians at cross walks.
Pedestrians and bicyclists should not assume drivers see you or know
campus road rules. Pedestrians are urged to make eye contact with a
driver or be certain a vehicle is stopping before stepping or biking
into the street. Drivers should slow down and watch for pedestrians
and bicyclists.
Jim Bachmeier, vice president for Finance and Administration,
said: “We are a big community at Grand Valley. Let’s watch out for one
another and finish the remainder of the year accident-free. We care
about your safety.”
