The deadline to apply to participate in a free social justice training program at Grand Valley is November 1.
Grand Valley's LGBT Resource Center is taking applications for
"Change U," a social justice training program that is open
to the campus community and the public. Change U, which is made
possible through a grant from the Arcus Foundation, will begin in
January and continue through April. Participants will attend an
introductory daylong session followed by four evening sessions.
Colette Seguin Beighley, assistant director of the LGBT Resource
Center, said the vision behind Change U is to help strengthen social
justice movements by fostering multi-generational and diverse
partnerships between the Grand Valley community and West Michigan
community. National speakers will help facilitate the sessions.
Information about the training schedule and biographies of the
speakers are online at www.gvsu.edu/socialjustice.
Change U is open to 100 participants. Download an application at
www.gvsu.edu/socialjustice
and click on "Application." Grand Valley students can submit
an application and receive course credit by enrolling in Liberal
Studies 380 for the winter semester.
