Grand Valley will host a conference in April geared toward
providing women students with mentoring opportunities and tools to be
successful in the workforce.
"Young Women, Strong Leaders" is scheduled for April 9
in the Kirkhof Center. It is sponsored by these state organizations
and networks that support women: Michigan ACE Women's Network,
Michigan Women's Commission, Michigan State University Women's
Resource Center, Michigan Department of Education, Office of Career
and Technical Preparation, the host institutions, and the U.S.
Department of Labor, Women's Bureau.
The keynote speaker is Allendra Letsome, vice president for the
National Organization of Women. Students who attend the conference do
not have to be enrolled at Grand Valley. Participants will attend
skill building workshops and have opportunities to meet mentors. Cost
to attend is $25, which includes lunch and materials.
