The executive director of the Arcus Foundation, based in Kalamazoo,
will speak on campus this week about the LGBT community's journey from
a hidden minority to the American mainstream.
Urvashi Vaid will present "Virtual Equality: Mainstreaming
Gay and Lesbian Liberation," on Tuesday, February 16, at 4 p.m.
in the Kirkhof Center, Grand River Room. The event is sponsored by the
Office of Multicultural Affairs and the LGBT Resource Center.
Vaid is the former director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task
Force. During her presentation, she will suggest the LGBT is in a
state of virtual equality: seen on the surface, but only marginally
accepted.
For more information about Vaid's presentation, contact the LGBT
Resource Center at (616) 331-2530.
