WGVU hot air balloon headed for Battle Creek Air Show

WGVU is sponsoring a hot air balloon at the Battle Creek Air Show July 1-5. President Haas’ wife, Marcia, was scheduled to take a ride in the balloon June 30, but weather conditions were not favorable.

The operator, Mike Nelson with Ballooning4Education out of Fortville, Indiana, instead gave Haas a history lesson about hot air balloons as it was partially inflated at the Laker Turf building on the Allendale Campus.

Nelson told Haas a typical flight lasts 45 minutes and hot air balloons fly at tree level, from 1,000-3,000 feet in altitude.
