Nationally known service-learning lecturer and author Shelley Billig will be the guest speaker at the Summer Institute on Service Learning, sponsored by the College of Education at Grand Valley and the League.
Billig’s presentation, “Growing Quality, Harvesting Impact: High-Yield Service Learning” will be held on Tuesday, August 4, from 12:45-3:30 p.m. in Loosemore Auditorium at DeVos Center on Grand Valley’s Pew Grand Rapids Campus, 401 W. Fulton St.
Billig is vice president of RMC Research in Denver and currently serves as principal investigator for a random assignment research study of the Learn and Serve national program and for a cluster study of 10 state Learn and Serve projects. With colleagues from across the U.S., she founded the International Conference for Research in Service Learning and facilitated the formation of the new K-12 standards.
