Grand Rapids police officers arrested two men suspected of two
separate armed robberies Wednesday night around 9:30 p.m. While no
robberies occurred on Grand Valley’s property, the suspects ran to the
Center for Health Sciences parking lot at Michigan and Lafayette and
were arrested there. The weapon later was determined to be a toy gun.
The suspects in robberies in the 400 block of Washington and the
corner of Lyon and Union reportedly ran to the CHS lot and ordered a
woman in a vehicle to open her door, and she refused.
Grand Rapids police then arrived and took the two suspects into
custody without incident. Before they were arrested, one of the men
threw what turned out to be a toy gun under the vehicle.
There were no injuries. Grand Rapids police are handling the investigation.
