Registration is under way for the annual state conference of the Michigan American Council on Education (ACE) Network for Women Leaders in Higher Education.
Hosted by Grand Valley, the June 12-13 conference is at the Henry Center for Executive Development on Michigan State University's campus in Lansing.
The theme is "Inclusive Leadership" and speakers and sessions will address leadership, diversity, mentoring, public policy initiatives and social justice, among other topics. Gloria Nemerowicz, president of Pine Manor College in Massachusetts, is the pre-conference dinner speaker on June 12. Sessions will run all day on June 13. The plenary session will be led by Susan Kaufmann, associate director of The University of Michigan Center for Education of Women; and Jean Doss, of Michigan Women United, who will present research on potential gender and racial impacts of the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative.
Provost Gayle Davis will give the welcome address. She and Wendy Wenner, dean of the College of Interdisciplinary Studies, will also present at a session, "Challenging Hierarchies: Models for Power Sharing." Sue Sloop, Work Life Connections consultant and Simone Jonaitis, executive director of Continuing Education, will also make presentations.
