Public relations student earns national award

Grand Valley senior Leah Zuber is the recipient of a 2009 Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) National President Citation.

The award was created to honor public relations students who go above and beyond what is expected as a PRSSA member, and exemplify leadership and professional skills.

Zuber, a native of Howell, is the president of Grand Valley's PRSSA chapter. She is also an account executive for Grand Valley's student-run PR firm, is a PRSSA Bateman Competition team member and has worked as an intern in the health care and higher education industries.

The National President of PRSSA, who is also a university student, chooses the recipients based on a short essay, a letter of recommendation and the applicants PRSSA honors and activities.

“Leah is deserving of this award,” said Tim Penning, associate professor of communications at Grand Valley. “She represents GVSU, PRSSA and the public relations professional extraordinarily well.”

Zuber will graduate in May with a bachelor's degree in public relations.
