Promise Scholarship cancellation causes bill changes for 7,000 Grand Valley students

The state legislature's cancellation of the Promise and State Competitive scholarships has forced the university to re-bill the 7,000 Grand Valley students who had received university bill credits for the anticipated financial assistance.

Two weeks ago Grand Valley President Thomas J. Haas and Student Senate president Autumn Trombka sent e-mail messages to the affected students advising them that cancellation of the state aid would mean re-billing. The 7,000 Grand Valley students were slated to receive $12 million in Promise and Competitive scholarships in the 2009-10 academic year.

This morning, President Haas communicated again with the affected students and also with their parents/family.  A copy of his message can be viewed here.
