New fund supports student conference attendance

The Student Senate, in collaboration with Provost Gayle Davis, has established a fund to support student travel to academic conferences.  The Academic Conference Fund is available to all students including non-traditional and graduate students who may be looking for one time funding to attend an event that is related to their major, minor, and/or professional goals regardless of their affiliation with student organizations.

Undergraduate and graduate students are able to apply for travel grants ranging from $250-500. The purpose of these grants is to encourage student participation and presentations at academic conferences by offsetting the cost of attendance.

The grants are divided into two allotments which are distributed equally over the fiscal year (July-December, January-June). Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis each period (provided proposals meet established guidelines) until funds are exhausted for the period. Although grants are non-competitive, each application will be reviewed by the ACF Advisory Committee.

Students may apply for a $250 grant if they are attending an academic conference. Students who are making oral presentations, poster presentations, exhibiting their work, or performing may apply for grants up to $500.  Students are eligible for funding only once per year.
