Donna Rose, well-known author, speaker and advocate on transgender
and transsexual issues, is the next speaker in the LGBT Resource
Center's on-going conferences. Rose will address "Transgender:
Myths, Stereotypes, and Realities" on Wednesday, November 11,
beginning at 4 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center, Pere Marquette Room.
Rose is active in the leadership of several national LGBT
advocacy organizations, is the author of an award-winning memoir, and
is heavily involved in national corporate diversity efforts. She lived
the first 40 years of her life as a man before undergoing sex
reassignment surgery in 2000. Her book, "Wrapped in Blue: A
Journey of Discovery," was nominated for a Stonewall Literary
Award by the American Library Association.
