Michael Lopez, associate director of admissions, died Friday,
November 20, at University of Michigan Hospital, after battling a
liver illness. Lopez came to Grand Valley in December of 1999 as an
admissions counselor. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal
justice from Grand Valley in 1997. He was 38.
“Michael’s strong work ethic and passion for serving students
and families meant that he often went above and beyond what anyone
might expect from an admissions professional,” said Jodi Chycinski,
director of Admissions. “We will miss Michael’s sense of humor and
ability to balance work with fun.”
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., on Tuesday, November
24, at the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Life Story Funeral Home, 188 W. 32nd
St. in Holland.
Services will be held Wednesday, November 25, at 1 p.m. at
Ridgepoint Community Church of Holland, 340 104th Ave.
