GM exec will speak to Grand Valley PR students

Tom Wickham, manager of executive communications at General Motors, will share how to survive in an environment where government leaders, the media and even consumers believe bankruptcy is the best option.

The Grand Valley State University chapter of PRSSA and the School of Communications are sponsoring Wickham’s visit on Thursday, March 19.  He will speak on “Auto Work or Out of Work: PR's Role in Saving an Iconic Industry,” from 4:30-6 p.m. in room 2215/2216 Kirkhof Center on the Allendale Campus. The primary audience is students and faculty, but the event is open to members of the community as well. Media are welcome.

After 100 years, General Motors faces its sternest test. At the forefront of the battle to survive, GM's communications team is waging a 24-hour campaign to tell the GM story using social media tools as a way to engage people in a grassroots campaign.

Wickham will be available for interviews after the event.
