Festival will celebrate Cuba

Lectures, workshops, movies, food and dance centered on Cuban culture are planned by the Latin American Studies department.

"Spotlight on Cuba" will run from December 1-12; the festival includes the following events:

  • Tuesday, December 1: William Luis, professor of Spanish at Vanderbilt University, will lecture on "Cuban Literature, Culture and Revolution: 50 Years Later." 2:30 p.m., Kirkhof Center, room 2204.
  • Wednesday, December 2: Jack Kenny, photographer, presents "A Traveler in Cuba." 3 p.m., Kirkhof Center, room 2263.
  • Monday, December 7: Robin Moore, professor from the University of Texas, presents "Music and Revolution: Cultural Change in Socialist Cuba." Noon, Cook-DeWitt Auditorium.
  • Saturday, December 12: "Baile la Habana" will feature free food and music. 7 p.m., Kirkhof Center, Grand River Room.
