The College of Education will honor an outstanding educator during
its convocation ceremonies scheduled for Wednesday, December 9, at 7
p.m., at DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids.
About 200 graduates are expected to participate. The ceremony is
a precursor to Grand Valley’s commencement scheduled for December 12
at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.
Deborah Creswell is the recipient of the Outstanding Alumni
Educator Award. Creswell is a third grade teacher at Parkview
Elementary School in Wyoming. She was nominated by the principal and a
former colleague for her commitment to her students and for making
learning fun and exciting. Creswell was also nominated for creating
school-based programs and implementing an Odyssey of the Mind team at
Huntington Woods Elementary School. She earned her master’s in
education from Grand Valley in 1989.
