The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences presented service awards at its
spring Sabbatical Showcase, held on April 1 in the Kirkhof Center.
Dean Fred Antczak encouraged all in attendance to browse the 19
sabbatical exhibits and engage in conversation with colleagues,
especially those from another department.
The college honored the following individuals:
• John Bender, associate professor in chemistry, the CLAS Lifetime
Faculty Service Award;
• Diane Laughlin, lab supervisor, CLAS Administrative and Professional
Service Award;
• Sigrid Danielson, assistant professor of art and design, and Nancy
Mack, professor of mathematics, each received the CLAS Annual Faculty
Service Award;
• Christopher Dobson, Virginia Peterson, Milun Rakovic, Harold Schnyders
and Eric Snyder received Science Olympiad Appreciation Awards for 2008,
as faculty members who served as event supervisors for three consecutive
years of the Michigan Science Olympiad Region 12 Tournament.
