Children plant a tree on Grand Valley's campus for Plant Michigan Green

Nearly two dozen children, ages 2 to 12, will plant a tree on Grand Valley State University's Allendale Campus, as part of the Plant Michigan Green initiative.

The statewide initiative, sponsored by the Michigan Nursery and Landscaping Association, is scheduled to coincide with Earth Week, April 19-24. Tree planting ceremonies all being held all over the state with a goal of 200 trees planted.

Children from Grand Valley’s Children’s Enrichment Center will plant a red maple tree on the front lawn of the daycare center on Thursday, April 23, at 10 a.m. The tree has been donated by West Olive Nursery in West Olive and soil amendment has been donated by Earth Service and Supply of Grand Rapids.
