Career Services offers mini-grants

The Career Services office is offering internship mini-grants to campus departments that would like to create, expand or enhance internship or practicum initiatives.

The deadline to apply for a grant is October 30. Applicants need to submit a short proposal detailing how the mini-grant will be used, how it will help students and the desired outcome. Proposals can be sent to Career Services, 206 Student Services Building, or via e-mail to Rachel Becklin at [email protected].

Past grant recipients have used the funds to develop marketing materials for an internship program, attend a conference or develop an internship seminar.

Sridhar Sundaram, chair of the finance department, received a mini-grant last year and used the funds to host an internship expo for finance students in March. He said 14 companies were represented and more than 120 students participated.

“The feedback from students indicated that it gave them a great opportunity to network with potential employers,” Sundaram said.

Proposals for mini-grants will be reviewed by Career Services staff members; fund notification and disbursement will be in January. For more information regarding the mini-grant, call Becklin at (616) 331-3468.
