Athletics signs extension with Clear Channel Radio

Grand Valley athletics and Clear Channel Radio announced a five-year extension of the current contract. The continued partnership gives Clear Channel of West Michigan Laker football and men’s basketball broadcasting rights through 2014.

WMUS 106.9 FM will be the flagship radio station for Laker football and men’s basketball. The extension also includes the broadcasting rights to both the “Chuck Martin Weekly Radio Show” and the “Ric Wesley Weekly Radio Show,” which will air weekly during their respective seasons on WTKG-AM 1230.

“We are excited about Clear Channel’s long-term commitment to Grand Valley State athletics,” said Director of Athletics Tim Selgo. “This partnership allows us the ability for growth in the market place.”

Grand Valley also announced the development of the GVSU Football Radio Network. The radio network will be part of the Grand Valley Sports Network.

The football network will be cover six of the top 90 national media markets, according to the Nielson ratings and will reach 60 of Michigan’s 83 counties. Anchoring the affiliate lineup is WDFN-AM 1130 Detroit.
