Sustainability Summit in Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids has developed a national reputation for being at the vanguard of the sustainability movement, and a December 17 summit meeting at Grand Valley State University will discuss some of the next steps in moving West Michigan toward an even greener future.

The Community Sustainability Partnership Summit is set for December 17 from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m.  in the Grand Valley’s Eberhard Center on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus. Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell and Holland Mayor Al McGeehan will share their thoughts about municipal and community sustainability initiatives and programs.

"Grand Valley is proud to serve as a host for an event that brings together key stakeholders from among the greater Grand Rapids community to discuss sustainability issues," said Stephen Glass, associate dean in Grand Valley’s College of Interdisciplinary Studies.

To register for the event, contact Rhonda LeMieux at [email protected] or (616) 331-8655 by Friday, December 12. Cost for the event is $20 — payable at the door. Make checks payable to the City of Grand Rapids. For maps and directions: www.gvsu.edu/meetatgvsu .

The summit is hosted by Grand Valley's Sustainable Community Development Initiative and the Greater Grand Rapids Community Sustainability Partnership.
