Seidman College of Business is holding a series of events to help people
understand the current financial crisis -- including one for faculty and staff.
“The Seidman College of Business is home to faculty experts who
understand the changes the U.S. economy is going through. We are
fortunate to be able to share this level of expertise beyond the
classroom and provide a venue for people to become better informed,”
said Dean H. James Williams.
The event for Grand Valley faculty and staff, “Survival in a Financial
Meltdown,” will feature finance Professor Gregg Dimkoff and an advisor
from TIAA-CREF; the event is set for Thursday, October 2, noon-1 p.m.

provided, and participants can feel free to bring their lunches.
This presentation will help participants understand what happened and
what they can do to protect themselves. Topics will include how the
crisis got started, what the federal government is doing to stablize the
economy, what it will cost, and rules for financial survival.
The session is part of a series of “emergency” events will feature
Seidman faculty members who are well versed in the areas of banking,
investments, housing market issues, and federal regulation, along with
members of the Grand Rapids business community. A breakfast event is
scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, with breakfast beginning at 7:30
a.m. in the DeVos Center on Grand Valley’s Pew Grand Rapids Campus.
The panel will discuss what caused the current crisis, what the
implications are, and what the government is doing about the crisis.
Audience questions will follow. The panel will be moderated by Sri
Sundaram, chair of the Finance Department, and will feature professors
Paul Isely, Dan Giedeman, Larry Blose, and several experts from the
business community.
