Proposals are being sought for the next round of National Science
Foundation Advance Professional Development Grants. Proposals are due
March 10.
The NSF grants are a means to address the underrepresentation of women
in the academic sciences and engineering. The grants are available to
help meet career-relevant needs of individual faculty that, if met, will
increase the participation and advancement of women faculty in science
and engineering at Grand Valley. The grants support a range of
activities necessary for scholarly work in science and engineering
fields. Applications may be for up to $5,000 although in extraordinary
circumstances funding up to $10,000 may be available.
Support may be requested for, but is not limited to, the following:
• extended travel to research sites or collaborators' laboratories
• lab and field equipment
• research assistance
• training of undergraduate and graduate students (if directly related
to the mission of the grant);
• assigned time
• summer salary
• work-related travel
• long stays at field sites or long and late hours at labs
• expenses for specialized child care to permit the research activities
outlined above.
Applications for Spring/Summer and Fall 2008 must be received no later
than 5 p.m. March 10. Awards will be announced April 1. For more
information, contact Kathleen Underwood at [email protected] or Shaily
Menon at [email protected].
