MBA program adds health sector managemnt emphasis

In a nod to the impact of the growing impact of the life sciences on the West Michigan economy, Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University has added a Health Sector Management emphasis to its MBA program.

The Health Sector Management emphasis will be available beginning fall semester 2008. Seidman College of Business has partnered with Grand Valley’s College of Public and Non-Profit Administration, using established health administration curricula as the elective portion of the MBA program. The program is targeted at both professionals currently in the health care industry, as well as those interested in that industry.

“It’s easy to see the economic impact that health care and related industries are having in the Grand Rapids area by the cranes dotting the horizon along the Medical Mile,” said H. James Williams, dean of the Seidman College of Business. “These bricks-and-mortar developments will inevitably be followed by the need for leaders, and Grand Valley’s MBA graduates are well-suited to fill those roles.”

The Seidman MBA program was recognized in the U.S. News & World Report's 2008 Edition Best Graduate Schools, which publishes credentials of all accredited programs for each state. The credentials of Seidman MBA students compare favorably with those of all Michigan's MBA programs. On the factor most often cited for quality, the Graduate Admission Management Test (GMAT), Seidman's average of 571 is tied for second highest among part-time MBA programs in Michigan.
