GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Intellectually curious and academically talented
high school students from around the area will gather at Grand Valley
State University on April 17 to learn about careers in engineering --
and see some impressive projects designed and built by Grand Valley
engineering students.
During Student Engineering Day, high school students will have a chance
to see an exercise machine that powers a computer monitor, a prototype
home cofffee bean roaster, and an electronic handbell choir playing
Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. In the process, the students will be able to
explore subjects and disciplines that they may not have access to in
high school. They will also discover the importance of engineering and
science, and the opportunities they have to use them in future careers.
The events will take place in the Keller Laboratories and Kennedy Hall
of Engineering buildings on Grand Valley’s Pew Grand Rapids Campus, 301
W. Fulton St., from 10 a.m. to noon. The event is open to media coverage.
