Current trends in global business will be the topic for the this year's World Trade Week, which runs May 7-11. With a focus on small business and Michigan's growing life science industry, speakers will offer advice on how to succeed in international markets.
Moore leads domestic outreach efforts to state and local governments, the business and agricultural communities, labor, environmental and consumer groups. She is also responsible for improving the public's understanding of U.S. trade policies through education and strategic communications initiatives. In addition, her office manages the U.S. trade advisory committee system. Moore previously served as director of government relations for Kellogg Co. Before joining Kellogg, Moore served as legislative director to Congressman Fred Upton and advised him on trade matters before the U.S. Congress. Moore earned her bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Literature from Western Michigan University and her master's degree in International Affairs from George Washington University. She is a native of Detroit and resides in the Washington, DC area.
Other keynote speakers include Mat Peabody, president of Peabody Management and Technology, and Thomas T. Moga, senior attorney at Butzel Long. Other event speakers include: Bill Kleven, managing partner of Da Vinci Capital; Jan Blaho, business development officer of the Export-Import Bank of the United States; Chuck Saylor, president of izzydesign; Bennett Rudolph, marketing professor in Grand Valley State University's Seidman College of Business, Luis A. Tomatis, director of medical affairs, Richard M. DeVos Family, and Jan Carlson, vice president of marketing and product development, Nuture by Steelcase.
Also on the agenda this year is the third annual WTW Student Global Awareness Day. The mission of this collaborative program is to help Grand Rapids Public High School students better understand how the global economy affects them today and how it will affect their future. This final-day capstone event held on GVSU's Pew Grand Rapids Campus sums up the students' prior six-week Junior Achievement Global Marketplace course. This program will showcase some of the area's international businesspeople discussing their preparation, career experiences, and advice for success. Students will also experience international cuisine, and exhibits by universities and schools offering foreign study programs and international career ideas.

- May 10: World Trade Week International Business Conference discusses "Global Trends" in Kalamazoo from 8-11 a.m. at Kalamazoo Country Club, 1609 Whites Road
- May 11: Student Global Awareness Day, on Grand Valley State University's Allendale Campus.
