GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Louis Green, the president and chief executive officer of the Michigan Minority Business Development Council will speak at Grand Valley State University on February 21 as part of the Seidman College of Business' Black History Month celebrations.
Green will speak on the topic "Entrepreneurship + Education = Freedom" in the Loosemore Auditorium of the DeVos Center on Grand Valley's Pew Grand Rapids Campus. The talk will run from noon to 12:50 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The MMBDC is one of the nation's premier organizations for increasing business opportunities between major buying organizations and minority-owned businesses. The 2,500-member organization facilitates more than $14 billion dollars in annual purchases from minority businesses annually.
Prior to joining MMBDC, Green served as national director of supplier diversity at NBC television in New York and as supplier diversity and social responsibility leader at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. His public sector experience includes management roles in the State of Michigan Department of Civil Rights and work for governors James Blanchard and John Engler. He served on Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's transition team and as and member of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's minority business advisory team.
Louis was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles. He has an undergraduate from Oberlin College and a graduate degree from the University of Michigan.
