GVSU grad student receives national physician assistant scholarship

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Jennifer Stoll, a physician assistant student at Grand Valley State University, has been awarded a national 2007 Physician Assistant Foundation scholarship. The foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, headquartered in Virginia.

The foundation’s program recognizes students enrolled in the 136 accredited PA educational programs across the country. The organization awards scholarships annually to those with outstanding records of academic achievement combined with a commitment to community service and quality health care service.

“Jennifer is one example of the great students we have in the PA program at Grand Valley,”  said Wallace Boeve, program director of Grand Valley’s Physician Assistant Studies. “She is dedicated and committed to making a difference in so many lives at the bedside and beyond.”

Stoll, a native of Swanton, Ohio, was one of 42 recipients singled out from more than 4,000 candidates. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley in 2006, graduating from the Honors College with a 3.6 GPA. She then entered the Physician Assistant Studies program where she handles a full course load while volunteering her time in community outreach programs.
