Grand Valley's Johnson Center celebrates National Philanthropy Day

National Philanthropy Day honors those who have made a difference by giving their time and talent for the good of their communities. The Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Grand Valley State University will host a panel discussion, November 8.

“Giving and Volunteering in Kent County,” will be presented by Maria Gajewski of the Johnson Center’s Community Research Institute, followed by a panel discussion on the 2006 giving and volunteering survey for Kent County. This information will help nonprofits and fundraisers identify who gives, where people give, and why they give in Kent County.

The presentation and panel discussion will be held Thursday, November 8, from 8:30 - 10 a.m. in the Hager-Lubbers Exhibition Hall at Grand Valley’s DeVos Center, Pew Grand Rapids Campus.

Panelists include: Valerie Holmes, Grand Valley’s Service Learning Center; Jonse Young, Grand Rapids Community Foundation; and Kathy White, Heart of West Michigan United Way.

Established in 1992, the Dorothy A.
