Grand Valley State supports Michigan

ALLENDALE, Mich. —  Enrollment and graduation statistics at Grand Valley State University demonstrate again the value to Michigan of public and private investment in the university.

96.5 percent of Grand Valley’s students are Michigan residents, and 89 percent of the university’s most recent graduates have remained in Michigan to pursue careers or attend graduate school. Of Grand Valley’s 61,000 alumni, more than half live and work in West Michigan. Grand Valley is a top provider of graduates to many regional employers, including Spectrum Health, St. Mary’s Health System, Foremost Insurance and dozens of K-12 school districts.

Grand Valley is also a significant economic driver in West Michigan. The university’s students, faculty and staff make a collective economic impact of nearly $525 million in Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon counties. Nearly 12,000 public and private sector jobs throughout West Michigan exist due to Grand Valley’s presence here, and because of goods and services purchased by the university.

“Grand Valley represents top performance and top value,” said Matthew McLogan, vice president for University Relations. “Those who invest in Grand Valley — students, their families, taxpayers and donors — can be confident that the benefit to our state and region will increase every year,” McLogan said.
