Clothesline Project brings attention to domestic violence

The campus community is invited to create a t-shirt that will hang at one of three sites, drawing attention to victims and survivors of domestic violence.

The Clothesline Project runs October 8-11. T-shirt making workshops will run throughout that time in the Women’s Center, Kirkhof Center, room 161; and on Wednesday, October 10, from 3:30-7 p.m. at the Holland Meijer Campus, student lounge area.

The t-shirts will hang in the Kirkhof Center lobby, DeVos Center student lounge and Holland Meijer Campus student lounge. The national initiative draws its origins from the days when women would hang “dirty laundry” outside and confide in each other what was happening in their homes.

Grand Valley’s project is sponsored by the Women’s Center, Eyes Wide Open, Center for Women in Transition, Women and Gender Studies Program and Public Safety Services.
