WMSTI hosts Life Science Business Showcase 2006

The West Michigan life science industry is growing quickly, and the West Michigan Science and Technology Initiative is holding an event on February 2 to showcase that growth.

The event is being held at Grand Valley State Universitys Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences on February 2, 6-8:30 p.m. It will showcase 15 life science companies from Michigan that will be displaying product samples and marketing materials. Representatives from each company will be available to answer questions and better explain the work their company is doing in the life science industry.

"The purpose of this event is to highlight the extraordinary life science companies that call Michigan their home. The life science industry is expanding and it is important for Michigan to be a key player, Matt Dugener, executive director of WMSTI.

The event's theme draws inspiration from the Monopoly board game. Each of the exhibiting companies and sponsors will represent a property on the Monopoly board. When attendees arrive they will be given a Chance card telling them where to go and giving them the chance to win prizes , which will encourage networking. There will also be Community Chest cards around the lobby with different tidbits of life science and Grand Rapids history on them.

The exhibiting companies include: Avalon Laboratories, ATEK Medical, VAI, Jasper Research & Development, Kalexsyn, Inc. and more. The event is sponsored by Grand Valley State University; the Michigan Economic Development Corporation; Price, Heneveld, Cooper, De Witt & Litton; and MiBiz West.
