WGVU receives grant for community gardening project

WGVU received a $12,000 grant to continue its Green Growers community gardening project.

The grant will allow WGVU to host a series of events, in partnership with the YMCA and Mixed Greens. Events will include workshops, film screenings and children's activities, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and introducing gardening to kids.

"Growing Kids and Families" is funded, in part, by National Center for Outreach. In 2005, NCO gave WGVU a $6,000 grant to begin the Green Growers community garden project with the Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth.

The project will begin at WGVU's KidsDay at John Ball Zoo on August 4 and continue through April.
