The Grand River Room in the Kirkhof Center was packed and an overflow room was set up as more than 500 people came to hear a debate on same-sex marriage.
The February 15 event featured gay rights activist John Corvino and Focus on the Family marriage analyst Glen Stanton. The pair travel the country together expressing their views on this often heated topic.
Corvino is a philosophy professor at Wayne State University where he specializes in ethical theory and applied ethics. Stanton is the senior analyst for marriage and sexuality and the director of social research and cultural affairs for Focus on the Family.
The debate lasted an hour and then the panelists stayed over to accommodate a flood of questions from the audience.
The debate was sponsored by several Grand Valley organizations including Work Life Connections, Office of Planning and Equity, Housing and Residence Life, The Womens Center, Dean of Students Office, University Bookstore and Human Resources.
