Martin named provost at U-M Dearborn

Susan Martin, executive associate vice president for Academic Affairs, was named provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Michigan Dearborn.

Martin, also a professor of accounting at Grand Valley, will begin her appointment July 1.

Martin brings an outstanding record of accomplishment in various academic and public service leadership positions. She joined Grand Valleys faculty in 1988 and has published research on taxation and related fiscal and accounting topics in publications, and has taught and lectured on these topics in England, Poland, Ukraine, and elsewhere. She served in several state positions: Commissioner of Revenue (1985-88), Deputy State Treasurer (1981-84) and Assistant Auditor General (1976-80).

She has served five consecutive terms as chair of the State of Michigan Hospital Finance Authority as well as in other senior advisory capacities.
